What Is the Best Age to Start Breeding My Female Boston Terrier.?

You guys are jerks. Im not going to breed her myself. Shes Akc so im just testing the water.

None. There are too many (millions) of dogs getting killed every year because of pet overpopulation as it is.

Answer: Best age? After she’s been cleared for all genetic problems in the breed, which can’t be done until 2 years old, and she’s been proven to be an asset to the breed.

It is best to wait for a female to mature till about 2 years or even 3rd heat or so before trying to breed.

If you have to ask what the best age is to breed your dog, then you obviously don’t have a clue what you’re doing. You’re just another BYB and you’ll have her bred then be back on her asking all sorts of questions about what to do now that she’s pregnant and what to do when the puppies are born. Do us a favor and your dog a favor and all the good dogs looking for homes out there a favor and have her spayed!

You should know that Boston terriers are rather difficult to breed because the pups have such large heads in relative to their body size… so the female has a tough time delivering pups or ‘free whelping’…consult your Vet to be sure your female is capable of delivering without assistance, and don’t even think about breeding her til she is at least a year old….

You have to wait until she stops coming into season
she can only be bred one month after her ‘heat’

if you have to ask then you do not ever need to breed your dog it is irresponsible and the pups most likely will end up on death row in a pound or shelter, so please for your boston terrier and the proposed pups do not add to the unwanted dogs that are killed each day in shelters…. just all over bad idea. i mean if you do not even know the age to breed her then you most likely have no idea what it takes to whelp a litter and how to care for the pregnant mom etc. their is a lot of time money and hard work into having a litter of pups…so i suggest you reconsider your idea of breeding her.

At least age two. If you are going to breed more the once make sure you wait at least a year in between. Make sure they are all going to good homes.

Do not breed her unless you are a registered breeder. There are too many unwanted puppies in the world. If you want to experience the “miracle of birth” go rent a national geographic documentary. Better yet, go visit your local animal shelter and look into the eyes of all the forgotten and unwanted dogs.

Get her spayed by the time she’s 6 months old.

Never! Apparently you don’t know what kinds of problems these dogs have. Are you prepared to fork out $2000.00-$3000.00 when your dog needs a c-section, something they are known for.

    More questions:

    Dog have it’s breed championship?
Dog have all health clearances, eyes, hips, elbows, etc?
How about the male, same goes for him.

You could lose your dog, due to complications, due to pregnancy and during whelping.

Millions of dogs are euthanized, each year, because of BYB’s like yourself. Get the dog spayed. With each heat the chances of mammary cancers get bigger.
