I Would Like to Register My Puppies to AKC, Rather Than APRI, How Do I Do So?

I was hoping to get my female boston terrier spayed right after she was off heat (did not want her to have puppies), but she ended up getting pregnant by my parents boston (i just got her). I rescued her from a person who abused her. They pretty much just handed me my dog on some huge horse lease and gave me a bag full of blankets and her clothes (which btw looked like cat clothes), as well as her APRI Paper work.

Well she just had her puppies and was wondering if there is a way to get the puppies AKC papers as their father. I am not going to sell them…one is going with my parents, i am keeping one and the others with close family. But i would love for them to be"legit" as i hear APRi is fake.

BTW, i have a pedigree from APRI, is it creditable?

Unfortunately a dog that is APRI registered cannot ever be registered with AKC. APRI sets their breed standards differently than AKC. So AKC won't accept those papers. It really doesn't matter if the dogs are registered. As long as you don't plan on showing them in confirmation then it doesn't matter. Papers just proves they are purebred and if all the puppies are spayed and neutered the papers will just sit in a drawer somewhere collecting dust.

    Nope, sorry. Both the parents have to AKC (or Canadian KC) to register the puppies.

    No, it is not possible. Both parents have to be AKC registered (the only legitimate registry in the U.S., by the way) in order for the puppies to get AKC pedigree.

    APRI is a made up registry – worthless.

    You can't register this dog with AKC. Her parents would have to be AKC reg'd. And if they were.. you would have AKC papers already.
    I choose to know nothing about the registry your dog is reg'd with. They are not a good registry. I can only tell you what I know about the reputable registries, like AKC….. A pedigree isn't going to do anything for you. You would need the previous owners to sign the back of the actual registration paper they received when they paid to register her. Before you can register puppies from her you have to do a transfer of ownership to you. Unless, APRI allows such wishy-washy dealings. Heck, they may even allow you to call these puppies Newfoundlands and give you papers on them. Needless to say, APRI isn't worth crap. I wouldn't even bother to register a litter that was produced in this way… with obviously pet quality dogs… Just make sure you have people sign a spay/neuter contract. Get your b it ch and the male fixed soon.

    Sorry, the puppies are NOT eligible for AKC registration.

    Both parents have to have full AKC registrations.

    APRI is a scam registry, and AKC will not accept it, even with a "pedigree". APRI has very poor record keeping, and soley relies on the honesty of the breeders who register the dogs. We all know that puppy mills are NOT honest about registering their dogs!

    Please put these pups on spay/neuter agreements, or have them spayed and neutered prior to going to their new homes, if possible.

    Have both AKC and APRI registered dogs. No one can tell which of my dogs are AKC and which ones are APRI. You can try to figure out which ones are which. Their pictures are posted on my profile. :)

    Both parents would have to be AKC. Also AKC doesn't mean quality. I have seen a few quality APRI dogs. If you don't plan on showing.. it really doesn't matter.

    If you are having her spayed why do you care about an AKC registration. It does nothing for you anyway and if puppies from non AKC litter could be registered with the AKC then the AKC would not be credible either.
