Lump on Dog's Neck?

I got a 6 year old Boston Terrier 10 days ago from a rescue. They said they gave her some vaccines the day before I picked her up. Three days ago (a week after I got her), she got this golf-ball sized lump on the back of her neck. It does not bother her, but it bothers me. Could it have anything to do with the vaccines days later? I know-I will be taking her to the vet…I just wondered if anyone had an idea about this. I'm already in love with her.

What could it be?

It is probably from the vaccines and could be a cyst, the vet will have to drain the cyst and put a drain in it and you will have to flush it out a few times a day, but do take her to the vet.

It's a cyst, probably filled with water I bet. My old dog had it in its later years.

No, my guess is a fatty deposit, but I would get her checked because it could be cancer.

Might be a cyst. If that's the case, a vet can drain it and give you something to help heal it. My rabbit used to get them, and if they go untreated they can rupture and tear the skin, leaving wide open wounds.

Something that flared up that fast likely isn't a major problem. Could also be some type of irritation.

Have her looked at, but don't panic. I'm sure it is something that, with medical attention, will clear up in no time.

Could be a reaction to the vaccines, although it's a bit delayed from what I would expect. Keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away within a day or so (or gets bigger) have it looked at.

Can be anything from a cyst to cancer. Did they give you a "well-puppy" Vet exam certificate? I'd have them quickly check it out.

My lab had breast lumps that were successfully removed.

    Good luck!

My old dog had one on her neck and it was a cyst, You should take it to the vet to get fully examined, you don't want to get attached to quickly to something that could be sick. But its just a cyst he should be fine.

It's probably a vaccine reaction that has caused an abcess. It will need to be drained and your dog put on antibiotics. You need to take her to the vet ASAP or else it could get very large and could burst.

This exact same thing happened to our Boston. A few days after receiving some vaccines, a lump developed on her neck. I took her into the vet afraid it was something serious. The vet examined her and told me that it was from the vaccines and nothing to worry about. He didn't even charge me for the visit! The lump disappeared a few days later. It doesn't take much to fall in love with a Boston, they are wonderful pets!
