Are Boston Terriers Good First Time Dogs?

I need a dog thats small, smart, cute, and hyper, but doesnt need hours of exercise and isnt destructive (chewing/tearing/ barking).
would you say they are easy to potty train and with obedience?

what are all the pros and cons about them?
and any tips on the first dog?

Anyone else?
ALso, should i get a male or female?
is there any big difference (personality wise) between the two?
I did the dog breed info search and the boston terrier was the fifth breed it listed.

These are some of the breed highlights of Boston Terrier:

* Short-nosed dogs like Boston Terriers can’t cool the air going into their lungs as efficiently as longer-nosed breeds, and they’re much more susceptible to heat stress.

* Because Boston Terriers can have respiratory problems, avoid pulling on your dog’s collar to get him to go what you want.

* Prone to corneal ulcers because his eyes are so large and prominent. Be careful about his eyes when you’re playing or taking him for a walk.

* Depending in part upon their diets, Boston Terriers can be prone to flatulence. If you can’t tolerate a gassy dog, a Boston Terrier may not be for you.

* Because of their short noses, Boston Terriers often snort, drool, and snore (sometimes loudly).

* While Boston Terriers typically are quiet, gentle dogs, not prone to yappiness or aggression, males can be scrappy around other dogs that they feel are invading their territory.

* Boston Terriers can be gluttonous about their food, so monitor their condition and make sure they don’t become overweight.

* They can be stubborn, so persistence and consistency are definite pluses in training methods. They are sensitive to your tone of voice, and punishment can make them shut down, so training should be low-key and motivational. Crate-training is recommended while housetraining your Boston Terrier.

    All puppies are destructive.
All puppies chew, and tear things up and wreck things.
Barking is up to the owner. If you train them to be quiet when they are young, you won’t have an ongoing problem.
Most puppies are not easy to potty train. It’s time consuming and frustrating.
    All dogs need daily exercise.
All puppies are cute. Most adult dogs are nice but not cute. There is far more to dogs than just ‘cute’.
Most dogs do well if they are obedience trained the correct way.
Most people have no idea how to obedience train a dog so classes or a private trainer is the best way to learn how to teach your dog.

i had 2 bostons, they are great dogs, they only need play in the garden and about half an hours play in house. they make great companions, both of ours like to play with soft toys and when you came in from the shops etc, they bring them to you as a present.
toilet training, as long as you have time and patiece all puppies are the same, it takes time.
they are great dogs for obedience we used to show one of ours until she had the other.
they dont like long walks. they are not naturla chewers as long as you have something like a nylon bone for them to gnaw on.
the most noise they make is either the snoring, because they have very short snouts, and they constantly pass wind very loudly lol, but apart from that they are great
our female was very petite. the male was about double her size.
but they both had the same traits. the male was a bit more aggressive towards things like kids on bikes but that was only because he got out and was run over by a small child on a bike. but they are much the same.

    hope this helps.

Boston terrier isn’t really the dog for you. With the characteristics you said I would defiantly not suggest a terrier for you. Maybe a bichon frise, would be a good match for you. Here::

You put your answers in and it’ll tell you what kind of dog you should get. It’s quiet reliable.
