Boston Terriers

One or Both of My Puppies (10 1/2 Week Old Boston Terriers) May Have Eaten Part of a button..What to Do?

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

What signs and symptoms should I look for and how long after eating the button should it take for symptoms to appear?

A couple of days or a day. They will probably poop it out if it isn't too big. But if it is you'll know if it got caught up in their liver if they have these symptoms:
whining, lack of interest in food, lack of energy, yowling in pain , and they stay in bed a lot. If they show any of these symptoms, contact your veterinarian and tell him/her the problem. They will probably give you some steps to follow or prescribe some medication for the dogs. If it is that bad, they will preform a special surgery.

Good Luck!

How Much Do Boston Terriers Smell?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Is it just after they eat from passing gas? If so how frequently do they pass gas.

Do they smell for other reasons?

My parents had a Boston Terrier for a while, and it didn't smell at all. It was actually a very clean tidy little dog. Great pet.

Why Are Boston Terriers Called an Exception to the Terrier Breed?

Friday, February 20th, 2009

I've heard people say that numerious times. Why do they say that?

The wild, aggressive terrier personality was bred out of them.

"Bred down in size from pit-fighting dogs of the bull and terrier types, the Boston Terrier originally weighed up to 44 pounds (20 kg.) (Olde Boston Bulldogge). It is difficult to believe that these dapper little dogs were once tough pit-fighters….Terrier only in name, the Boston Terrier has lost most of their ruthless desire for mayhem, preferring the company of humans, although some males will still challenge other dogs if they feel their territory is being invaded."

Do Boston Terriers Shed as Bad as Pugs?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

I thinking about a boston terrier but if the shed as bad as a pug then I will have to rethink.

No, not as much as a pug, but they can have a variety of skin and coat problems due to allergies and a very sensitive diet (my mom has one and has spent a small fortune on her)

Are Boston Terriers Hard to Take Care Of?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

I've heard that they are, that they tend to have a lot of medical problems and can hit you really hard on the wallet. I promised my daughter a puppy and she fell in love with Boston Terriers and I want to know if the risk if any ok to take.

I don't think they are a sickly breed at all. They have a lot of energy…love to play. So cute.

Do Boston Terriers or Dachshund Hounds Make Good Pets for an Apartment?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

I live in a 1500 sq ft apartment with no enclosed yard/patio. Are either dachshund hounds or boston terriers fairly quiet, fairly tame dogs that won't spend all their time gnawing on you?

Hello.
i have a boston terirrier and they make great dogs! I was watching a show the other night and they said that Boston Terriers are quiet perfect dogs for apartments. Of course all pups knaw….but the boston never barks. they are know for being very quiet and dont bark much. They also bacome very attached to you! Not too hiper like somebreeds and not too lazy like others. I would go with the Boston Terrier

Good luck!

What Kind of a Temperament Do Boston Terriers Have?

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

I've been around a few Boston Terriers & like them; would like to get 1 someday. They seem good-natured. Are they? Do they typically get along w/other dogs?

P.S. I take good care of my dogs, keep them vaccinated & spay/neuter them at a young age.

I just got a boston terrier after a lot of research. Boston terriers are very active and super friendly. Most are kick back and get along with the whole family and other Pets. I also have a chihuahua and my boston loves her, although my chihuahua isn't to crazy about her(she's an old gal). My boston loves to play and had boundless energy… Sometimes I can't keep upwith her. She never barks unless she gets really hyper trying to play with you. I read that most females never bark, wish is a plus if you don't want a noisy plus. I do have to warn you that they can really be really gassy and smells just awful becuase of their flat faces they ingest a lot of air. But I lover best dog and breed I have ever owned. Good luck.

Why Do Boston Terriers Have Bad Gas?

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Is there something specifically with the intestines in this breed or what? Just seems odd.
Its not the food. It doesn't have any corn or by products in it. Its a Natural food for dogs.

All dogs can get gas. Generally it’s due to something the dog has eaten - poor quality food, too many treats, human food, etc.
