How It Works
The system works by emitting radio waves from the transmitter to the far end of the boundaries that you decide to set for your dog. The pet is trained to the presence of the predefined safe zone using the training flags for visual aid for the first couple of weeks. When the dog gets too close to the limits of the safe area, the collar will emit a sound that is meant to be a warning. If the dog tries to leave the boundary limit, then the collar will administer static shocks in increasing intensity in order to discourage it from trying again to leave the area.
The system provides a collar that is resistant to water and can be worn in any type of weather: it works with a 9 volt battery that has to be replaced about every 9 months. The Sportdog’s SDF-100 includes a DVD with instructions on how to install the system and how to use it to train your dog.

The collar of the SDF-100 is designed to be used on dogs that are at least 4 kilograms and 500 grams. Toy dogs and small breeds should use other types of collar.
